The Pressey House is a historic 1850 lakeside inn on the shore of Messalonskee Lake — added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977 and hosted today by Nicole and Ron Goodheart. We offer five comfortable suites, a full breakfast every morning, and one hundred feet of private waterfront for paddling, swimming, or simply watching the loons. We are ten minutes from Colby, Thomas, and the Kennebec — perfect for parents' weekends, college visits, fall foliage trips, ice-fishing weekends, or just a quiet break from the rest of it. Open year-round.
Private terrace overlooking the lake — quiet, elevated views and morning sun.
Top-floor loft with sloped ceilings and a cozy retreat feel. A favorite for couples wanting privacy.
Tucked into the historic ell of the house, with the period details and character of the 1850 build.
A private balcony with lake views — sunrise coffee, sunset wine, and the loons in between.
Named for the original granite hearth — fireplace, deep period details, and our warmest room in winter.
"We booked one night for our anniversary and stayed three. Nicole and Ron remember every detail, breakfast was the best meal we ate in Maine, and watching the sun come up over the lake from the dock is something we still talk about."Erin & Marcus T.Boston, MA
"We've been coming back since 2020. The house is full of history, the breakfast is unreal, and the lake is right there. It feels like staying with old friends who happen to live in the most beautiful spot in Maine."Carolyn H.Returning guest · 6 yr
"We held the rehearsal dinner here and put our families in the suites. Every guest came away saying it was the most special part of the whole weekend."Sarah & Tom L.Wedding guests
"I've stayed in B&Bs all over New England. The Pressey House is in the top three, full stop. And the hosts couldn't be more welcoming to a guest with a 5 AM departure for the river."Bill G.Fly fisherman · Augusta
